Very large gaps in down. How can that keep you warm in 32 degrees?

Very large gaps in down. How can that keep you warm in 32 degrees?
I did the best I could to spread the down. A allowed 24 hours+ to loft. But looking at the sleeping bag it still looked saggy. Holding it to the light you can see 50 % empty spaces (Check pictures). How will that keep you warm in 32° temps? Tested in 40's and 50's, my girlfriend was cold in the low 40's and under. Fine in the 50's and up.
