I got this product for my enduro helmet since it was a cheaper price than most comparables. Right out of this he box I was impressed with the quality. I have a SENA 10R for my street helmet and these speakers are definitely louder with comparable sound quality. Which the louder is great when it has to compete with 450 dirt bike exhaust.
As for calls the noise canceling worked as good, no one ever knew I was on the bike unless I did hard acceleration. I tested the intercom and it was great with maybe just a little less distance than the SMH10R.
Overall an excellent product for the best price!
Now for the good part of the review…
I have had this headset for about six months when the mic stopped working. Everything else worked great but I can no longer make phone calls or anything that involved the mic. Turns out a connection inside the main receiver had gotten loose and didn't make a good connection when plugged the harness. I contacted the supplier and I have never received such great customer support. They sent out a new harness immediately to help diagnose the problem and when that didn't help sent me a whole new unit.
It is so refreshing when the Amazon companies actually stick behind their product and for that they get a five star not to mention they have a great product!
Update 6/21/21: I liked mine so much I bought one for the wife's helmet. The helmets connect after getting a feel for the pairing process. The only complaint I would have is that music will not play while you a paired and in com mode. This isn't a real issue at this price point as you can switch back and forth between music and coms with the press of a button.
Update 4/7/23: The retaining clip broke on my helmet and the unit fell off. I picked it up and it still worked. I contacted the company and the immediately sent a replacement. This company has top notch customer service and goes above and beyond! 👌
I always recommend them to friends when they're looking for something great that isn't $$$! Definitely the best for the price!
Pros: It works great with calls- people say they hear me clearly and didn’t know I was ridding. Good listening to music & with getting GPS audio directions. Battery life is great, for how I ride I normally have to recharge after a few days.
Cons: the botton controls can be tricky to use with gloves while riding and volume contro could be better. It says the communicator can be removed from clip but there is no instructions on how. The charger is a mini usb 8pin which means it is not universal & can’t find them at stores. I lost my charger but I was able to find it here on amazon.
My suggestion is to go ahead and get it, especially if your are starting or interested in using Bluetooth communication for your helmet. It was easy to install and the price compared to name brands you can’t beat it. My suggestion is to order an additional charging cable so you have one for back up.
Pros:
- Cheap
- Sound quality is better than expected
- Waterproof
- Lightweight
Cons:
- False advertising (Only live connection between 2 other riders.. Expected 3)
- Constant voice cut-out
- Poorly written manual (To be expected from Chinese knock-offs)
- No mic alternatives (would like to be able to use just a wired mic)
Write-up:
Price: For less than $50 it's hard to beat. I was skeptical about purchasing the other cheaper BT-S2 options simply because of how Amazon will sell you complete knock-off products like SD cards or other Chinese copy products. But for testing purposes to see how voice comms would work in group riding it's a good baseline before committing to higher cost products.
Sound Quality: The quality of sound was probably the best feature of the unit while it would pick up your voice transmissions. I was surprised with how loud it was able to crank up the volume without getting to a point where distortion became an issue. I could hear my friend on his Magna over the sound of my R6 just fine, and we could even hear some of the noise our bikes were making too during our discussion.
Noise Cancellation: This is one of my most disappointed results from buying the unit. The boom mic was able to fit inside of my helmet fine, being tucked between the padding and the helmet off to the side as many motovloggers recommend to prevent wind noise/breathing too heavily on the mic. Throughout using the unit, there was no false transmission of wind noise/engine noise/heavy breathing at all, but it had issues picking up my voice and activating. My friend said it would constantly cut-out or play 2-3 seconds after I started speaking making communication nearly impossible. I ended up loosing my voice that day because I was having to scream in my helmet in order to talk to him.
Connections: This is my main disappointment with the unit. It features connections between three riders at a time, but this is not the case. At any single time, a connection can only be made between two riders that can have active conversation. If the third rider wants to talk, one of the other riders must switch to them in order to converse. This threw me off after initially reading the instruction booklet for setup, and made me feel like I wasted my money. Of the three of us, two of us bought the unit to test and thankfully we didn't have our other friend have to go through the trials of testing.
Because of the last two issues, I'm definitely returning the product. It's no fun having to constantly toy around with the unit to change between just two other riders, and if I'm having to scream my head off just to have a conversation. I'll be returning the unit and testing out a different brand that is much more known throughout the Moto community. Being able to also change away from a boom mic to a wired mic for better concealing is another plus to me.
