Product Description
What is Special About the SWAT Pen?
The open frame handle not only looks amazing, but it also fits really really well into your hands, is lighter and easier to clean. Made of grippy G10, you won't find this quality in this knife category anywhere else. The blade, made of 420B stainless steel, has the right mix between ease of sharpening and edge retention. The semi-serrated blade lets you slice and pierce or cut through tougher material more easily. This knife uses a liner lock mechanism for ease of use and safety. The SWAT Pen will become your best friend during your daily missions.
420B Stainless Steel Blade
The high chromium content stainless steel used in our knife make it really rust resistant. It is also easy to sharpen. This knife is praised for its edge retention so you won't need to sharpen the blade too often. Plus, you won't need a PhD in knife sharpening to keep it sharp either!
5 Things You Will Love About The Handle
- Great ergonomic shape for a perfect grip and comfort
- Similar traction whether wet or dry–better grip in rough conditions
- Different texture finishes which allow for higher or lower grip handles–depending on expected use conditions.
- Lower weight — lighter knife
- Cool badass and unusual look
Fast and One Handed Opening
We use a phosphor bronze washer to ensure a smooth and soft opening. You can flick open this knife using the thumbstuds with one hand even though it is not spring assisted. You will love how smooth and easy it is to open.
Made for Everyday Carry
The pen is light and slim. It has a solid pocket clip. You will love to carry it everyday. Its blade versatility makes it a perfect companion for work, hunting, fishing, camping, etc.
420B Stainless Steel Blade
A Handle to Give You Control
Fast Non-Assisted Open
Made for Everyday Carry
Handle Designed for Grip, Agility and Comfort
The SWAT Knife handle is not only resistant and light, but has also been molded to adapt to all hand sizes. The multiple dents and its unique texture ensure that even in wet conditions you keep control.
Not Just Looking Great
This knife is made with attention to details. To ensure a greater durability of the opening mechanism and better stability of the blade, we use a phosphor bronze washer as opposed to most competitors in this category who use a silicone washer. The Atomic Bear is committed to deliver products of the highest quality in its category.

Now, it is true that it feels a bit stiff when deploying the blade. Don't let this put you off of buying this. With time, careful play, and, some oil (if it makes you feel better) will rectify this. I've carefully opened and closed the knife for about 2 minutes straight and it's feeling just fine to me. Also, the belt clip is flexible enough that I can clip into my jean pocket on the first attempt and without snagging.
In conclusion, this is a very well-made folder. The finish is attractive and muted and the overall length and weight of the knife itself is spot on. Only time will tell about its hands-on functionality/ durability. I honestly recommend purchasing one. I can't see any knife enthusiast not finding this a worthy knife.
I use mine as a multi tool for cutting, prying, trimming, precision modifications and anything else you can imagine.
This blade is SHARP, my girlfriend sliced her thumb open by just glancing it on the seraded blade part while trying to open a box.
The glass breaker can be a bottle opener too, but it's more like using a lighter to open a beer bottle than it is using an actual bottle opener. I guess if you can open a beer bottle with a bic lighter you can with this knife too, if you can't go watch YouTube and learn how the lighter works and you'll get it with this soon after.
The handle is really comfy too, I was pleasantly surprized about that action.
All in all over the 40+ years of my life this is a top 5 favorite for sure! If you know a sruvivalist or a knife person like myself this is a fabulous gift idea too!!!
Atomic Bear rocks hard, I've also picked up a bunch of their tactical pens and their paracord survival bracelets as gifts and for myself too. They make amazingly high quality equipment at a great price pon!
Pros:
→ First off, this thing is really sharp. I did the old trying-to-shave-off-some-arm-hair test, and now there's this bare spot on my arm. C'est la vie.
→ It's a really cool design. I wasn't sure if I'd like the "tactical" look (all my other EDC stuff has that sort of sleek gunmetal aesthetic) but it's grown on me. Paraframe handles just look neat.
→ Thumb stud, which I much prefer over spring loaded flippers.
→ It appears the pocket clip can be switched from one side to the other.
Cons:
→ The serrations - some of the points seem kind of blunt
→ It's stiff. Right out of the box it was difficult to open with one hand at all, but after repeated opening and closing through watching 3 movies with some friends it's fine now.
Conclusion:
If you're looking for a nice knife, go ahead and buy it. I got it at half price and it's definitely worth what I paid for it. In hindsight I'd be willing to pay full price for it. It has its flaws, but then so does every other knife I've bought, so just buy it.
Cons: I am a camper and hiker, not a knife guy. For my purposes, the weight, while good in some ways, does add to my load even at the margins. I am not a fan of the partial serration as I find it completely useless for much of what I use a knife for. That is not a problem in terms of design and construction, but it makes cutting food, or boxes, or even rope just that much harder with one quick slice. My biggest complaint is that it does not seem to take a sharpening. I have used a dual-sided sharpening tool, a kitchen sharpening sticjk, and a stone. Just does not get back to the sharpness required to cut paper easiely as it did when first puchased. And that went away after one camping trip. Overall, if you really like a serrated edge and a kick ass looking knife, buy it
But I will stick to non-serrated blade of better quality.
