Best For Casting Long Distances: SpiderWire Stealth Superline Braid Fishing Line

                    • Superior strength
                    • Quiet line flies
                    Cons
                    • Poor knot strength
                    • Color fades fast

We know braided lines have minimal stretch. This SpiderWire Stealth impressed me with zero elasticity, allowing my pull even more powerful.

At first glance, I reckoned the line is made of almost invisible filaments bundled to result in a durable yet tough line coated with a fluoropolymer. Then, you receive a round and smooth line with excellent abrasion resistance.

The moss green plays hard in blending into the water. It'll become a shade of grey that is less likely to catch the fish awareness, thus giving you more chance of catching.

                    Hang on. There's more

In a casting test comparing with the PowerPro, this Stealth line reached 129 feet, a solid 4-feet further than its competitors. That was the longest distance I recorded.

When every second on the water counts, the Ultracast Invis braid commits to big fish insurance policies. It is the strongest, lowest diameter super lines money can buy.

                    But what makes the toughness?

These are 8 carrier lines, of which eight strands braided from hundreds of individual fibers. That creates a round uniform line that is as tough as bridge cables.

There is strength on every unit of the braid thanks to the revolutionary cold fusion process on the Dyneema® PE Microfiber. In clear water, the Low-vis Green blends in quite well for the sake of your visibility above the water and invisibility under the water. Besides, this UltraCast slips easily and quietly through the guides.

                    • A bit stiff for distant casting
                    • Prone to memory

For spinning reels, you need strength, sensibility, and low stretch to match the capacity of the tool. And this Sufix Advanced not only gives you that compatibility but also improved castability for your crappie fishing.

On the overall, it features one GORE Performance Fiber, and 7 Dyneema Fibersfor added durability. The gore fiber makes the line less water-absorbent, thus making it lighter for better casts.

Although color fade is an unfavorable reputation of braided lines, color retention is a flagship of this spool with the TGPTechnology in the back. That means you don't need an appendage very soon.

If you're familiar with KastKing, you probably know monofilaments from the brand are among the top options. The Paralleled Roll Track technology gives the line a unique design, reducing its sinking speed while featuring no spool memory. That means the retrieving will be quicker, and the line stays more rigid.

For those who used to have a bad experience with monofilaments, this line from KastKing will give you an exceptional crappie fishing experience. You can either use the line as a cushion layer for braid in your hookset.

                    • Options for night fishing and high-visibility
                    Cons
                    • Lack of casting distance

This Stren is one of my favorite 6-pound fishing lines. In terms of access, I think it's basically like a tie for number one. I've used both the green and the clear-colored line. It's UV-resistant for a longer lifespan.

If you buy the 0.25mm diameter, you may not receive a quite casting distance, but for a 6-pound line, it's incredibly strong. The good news is I've never broke a fish off on this Stren.

Overall, you will get a very abrasion-resistant, easy to tie knots line for the perfect balance of strength. You can tie any knot you want from ordinary to fancy. Casting and handling get easier thanks to its low memory.

                    • Limited color options
                    • No high-vis options

This McCoy's line is one of the excellent choices for crappie with exceptional strength from the Copolymer structure. It features Clear Blue color that glows in blacklight while the Mean Green disappears into freshwater.

This limp line allows you to cast a distance in your dream smoothly with virtually no memory. Abrasion resistance on this line also one of a kind. In my clumsy time, I made lots of contact with stumps, rocks, and bottom objects but didn't break the line that easy.

                    Cons
                    • Slippery coating lessens knot strength
                    • Thick diameter

KastKing promotes this line as a fluoro-coated mono. I guess that means they put the fluorocarbon 100% all the way about the line. Though, it's less visible than some other lines in the water.

This set is .045mm, and I think it's a bit strong but less likely for farther casts. No matter what, I would consider this one a powerful line at a reasonable price. It snaps easier than regular mono. That's noticeable when you lift a fish, and it flops around.

One thing I don't like is this you have to tie Palomar knot for the best strength. When I throw, mostly light lures, I prefer an improved clinch knot and get on with my day even though it slips to the slick coating.

                    • Defective nicks/kinks

This is a manageable line on the soft side that works great on both spinning and casting reels. To make such a versatile line, Sunline applies a technique they call triple resin processing gives this line 3 essential characteristics.

Those are high abrasion resistance, low memory, and a uniform diameter. All of those means you don't have to worry about knots, defects, or thin spots when that big one is one the line.

This line is made for heavy cover applications. Pound tests from 2 to 4 are suitable for fishing crappies in clear water using drop shots or shaky heads. 12 and 20 tests were made for those situations and techniques where only a bait caster will do.

                    8.8Great
                    Pros
                    • Great abrasion resistance
                    • Strong and durable
                    • Low price
                    • Bright-line color
                    Cons
                    • Keep a bit of memory

With respect to stiffness, the line falls on the soft side of fluorocarbons particularly, if you compare with any fluorocarbon. When stretched, the line has an incredible tensile and impact strength making it ideal for fishing under the ice.

Seaguard, in my opinion, is the brand that has the best fluorocarbon for crappies available. When I first used this line, I had to adjust my cast because this thing cast so far.

It has a very slick coating combined with the small line diameter, and I was pitching lures across the river farther than I needed to. In the ice where it's frozen, being slick turns out to hold knots tight. The color of the line is quite clear too.

So, if you fish from shore and need to get to a distant spot, this will ensure you'll have the longest cast into the water.

How To Choose The Best Fishing Lines For Crappie?

So, you've been through different kinds of fishing lines. I pretty target whatever fish are biting at the time, but for crappie, I do need to consider which line to go with. What are the factors that matter when choosing such a particular line?

                    Pound Test

                    • Just my recommendation. For crappie, I usually go for 4 to 10-pound test lines. But for the 4-pound test line, you need to make sure your drag set is right. It is because sometimes, if your line is getting stretched out a lot and the crappie takes it, it can break the line.
                    • 8-pound test lines are fairly good, but the 10lb test should be your best bet. It's an all-around good line for pulling not only crappie, but also bass, and other regular pond fish.

                    Visibility

                    • In clear water, low-vis lines give the best blending. High-vis yellow has been, for me, so far, the best color that does not affect crappie biting. High-vis colors allow me to detect a strike that I don't feel but see. That's quite critical when crappie fishing.
                    • However, these colors on braided lines don't reflect incredibly. Translucent braided lines look similar to fluorescent white in reality. Once it hits the water, the line just disappears. So, you may consider that. But if you must use a braided line, equip a leader.
                    • When fishing in murky water, pay attention to the condition of the water first. But most of the time, moss green works well for me.

                    Type Of Line

With crappie, you can go with any type of fishing line, but make sure it matches your fishing manner. There are basically 3 main types of fishing lines out there:

                    Monofilament

                    • These lines are the most common and cheapest. Monofilaments are stretchable, which can be good or bad. It can act as a shock absorber, which makes it less likely for the fish to break off. But at the same time, it can reduce your hook stick as well as sensitivity.

                    Braid

                    • Braid lines are 80% thinner than monofilaments for the same pound. They are also low in stretching, or even zero. That gives you much better sensibility, or bite detection. You don't things like line twists on braided line because it has zero memory.

                    Fluorocarbon

                    • First off, fluorocarbon sinks a lot more aggressively than braids and monofilaments. So, if you try to get your lure down deep quickly, fluorocarbon is the way to go. Additionally, fluorocarbon is see-through. So, it's harder for fish to detect in clear water.
                    • On the bad side, fluorocarbon tends to slip with knots. They also cost a bit higher than their counterparts at the same pound test and length.
                    • All lines have their advantages in the water, and you will find your own favorite type once you get out there and fish.

                    FAQs

How deep do you fish for crappie?

Sluggish fish like crappies swim at 40 to 60 feet depth along main-lake channels. That's why fishing crappies requires patience to hold tight and lure slow.

How do you rig for crappie?

What you need to tie a rig is a 10-pound test fluorocarbon line or the line of your use. For me, marabou jigs work the best. The number two could be Aberdeen red hooks. Then, you need a bit of paracord.

Start with a loop formed by the paracord. It's the key to the whole rig. Thread your line to the eye of the jig, double it up, then basically make a half hitch. Your jig is going to pass that loop. Tie another one at the other end for the swivel.

Take out about 30 inches of the line and hook it up to the eye of the jig. Make a double loop through the jig. Time to set in the hook and run it all down to about 8 inches above the jig. Make another loop at the other end and attach it to the swivel.

With this improved crappie killer rig, you will catch as many fish as you do on the minnow.

What is the best color for fishing lines?

The best choice depends on the type of water you fish in. Green lines are great for murky water but visible in clear water. But on the overall, green is always the preferable choice.

What is the best month to catch crappie?

In spring, you may find crappies in the shallows as the days are warm. In the summer, you should move deeper down or even try night fishing. In fall, crappies get more aggressive; so, you should fish from docks and let your jig sink a bit further to the bottom. Winter is also the time for crappies but find them in as deep as 24 to 40 feet.

What color jig is best for crappie?

Dark jigs seem to be the best answer but only for dark water. A pro said that in clear water, you should lean on white, green, or red with chartreuse.

                    Conclusion

Phew! Hope you've found the best fishing line for crappie in mind and get ready with confidence for the next trip. Bear in mind that you should always try to work and get used to the line; understand it before switching.

Anyhow! If you have a better choice of your experience, I'd love to know. Comment for me. And please share. Thank you so much!
